Atrial fibrillation (AF), for example, has strong associations with other cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure, coronary artery disease (CAD), valvular heart disease, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension. The term “heart disease” is often used interchangeably with the term “cardiovascular disease.”
